TAEKWONDO

KIDS & ADULTS

Taekwondo is Korea’s competitive martial art, known for its dynamic flying and spinning kicks. The name comes from the Korean words, Tae (foot or kick), Kwon (fist or punch) and Do (art or way of life) and means “The art of the hand and foot fighting.”

The fundamentals of Taekwondo are sequences of moves called poomsaes (forms), breaking boards and two-person controlled sparring. Students receive instruction in principles such as courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control & indomitable Spirit. At competitions, participants are judged by how well they execute poomsaes, their accuracy breaking boards and their skills in Olympic style sparring contests.

 HAPKIDO

KIDS & ADULTS

Hapkido is Korea’s traditional martial art that translates into “The art of coordinated energy.” Hapkido emphasizes blocks, strikes, joint locks, throws, chokes, take downs, pressure points, counterattack techniques and weapons.

Hapkido works against any opponent regardless of size, by using the attackers strength and power against themselves.

Size and strength varies with each individual. Once students have acquired a strong foundation in the basics, our program will enhance the student’s personal and physical capabilities and maximize self-defense.
